What Is Wrong With Fresh Graduates In This Century?

I have friends who have hired interns to work in their company and the most common complaint I heard from them is about all the problems these interns are creating in the workplace. Below is a list of scenarios fresh graduates/interns are behaving these days.

  1. Didn't show up for work without informing anyone and the best part is, they can come as usual the next day like nothing happened. As if you didn't notice of their absence yesterday.
  2. When you ask why they were absent, all kinds of excuses will be given: grandmother passed away, stomachache, diarrhoea, car broken down, cat died, dog died, etc.
  3. Cannot take criticism. When you try to correct them or tell them to do things the way you want, they show you the black face as if you're the wrong one and they are right.
  4. Very dedicated to their phones, checking Facebook, scrolling Instagram, watching YouTube during working hours.
  5. When you ask if they understood what you taught them, they say "yes", but then they do their way which is not only stalling the time but most of the work done is not up to a decent pass.
  6. If they don't understand something, or don't know how to do, they won't ask for help. They will try to figure out a way for the sake of finishing the work regardless of whether it's right or wrong. As long as it's done.
  7. Once they are done with the job, they won't ask the boss is there anything else to do. No, they will just sit there, play with their phones to pass time.
  8. And they have the nerves to say they are feeling bored, got nothing to do, nothing to learn in this company, feel like quiting.
  9. Some didn't even bring their paper qualifications (certificates, degree) during interview.
  10. Some went for interview with their mother. Good lord! How old are you? First day at kindergarten?
